How To Trace An Email Address
May 25th
What is an email header?
Each email you receive comes with headers. The headers contain information about the routing of the email and the originating IP of the email. Not all emails you receive can be traced back to the originating point and depending on how you send emails determines whether or not they can trace the email back to you. The headers don’t contain any personal information. At most, you can get the originating IP and the computer name that sent the email. The originating IP can be looked up to determine from where the email was sent. IP address location information DOES NOT contain your street address or phone number. It will most likely determine the city and the ISP the sender used.

How To: Nested Labels in Gmail
May 19th
Labels are more flexible than folders because a given email can have several labels but can’t be in several folders at the same time. A highly requested feature for labels, though, comes from the world of folders: the ability to organize labels hierarchically.
If you think this might be useful to you, go to the Gmail Labs tab under Settings, look for “Nested Labels,” enable it and click “Save.” You’ll then need to name your label with slashes (/) to make it the child of another. For example, let’s say you wanted to create a simple hierarchy with a “Home” label, and inside it a “Family” and a “Vacation” label. Just create three labels with the following names:
Home
Home/Family
Home/Vacation More >
Google Makes Gmail Easier
Apr 12th
Two handy new features were added to Gmail Labs yesterday: expanded email previews and nested labels. The first feature, Message Sneak Peek, brings up a preview of an email when you right click on it in your inbox.Gmail already displays the first few words of messages in your inbox, but that often isn’t enough to tell you whether a message is pressing or not. The new feature pops open a new frame in your inbox, letting you read the first few sentences of a message quickly.Gmail Labs featureThe second, Nested Labels, expands on Gmail’s folder system.
